Various Statistics

Do you like statistics? If yes, then you will like what the Internet has to offer. If you want to learn more about census of your country or state, then you will find a lot of information about it on the net. There are many websites that present statistical data. One of the most popular ones is quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/index.html. Sometimes it is better for me not to go and visit this site, because I find myself to be somehow addicted to looking at various statistics. Once I start reading and analyzing them, is simply cannot stop. There is nothing wrong about it though. You can learn a lot by doing so. The thing is that when I am on this site I do not spend enough time with my family this is what bothers me. Other than that, everything else is alright with that.

Anyway, one of the reasons I like this site is that these days it seems that the Internet is flooded with entertainment websites, and there is not a lot of educational sites which anyone talks about. In my opinion, if we want to change it, we need to visit such valuable sites ourselves and tell others about it.

Buying a Blog

I have been recently thinking about those webmasters who buy someone else’s blog, and continue this person’s work. I know that some bloggers are thinking about selling their website, although there is a large group of people who are not even considering it. I must admit that it sounds very tempting to buy a blog even though the price of it might be high, but there are also some problems. There are a lot of factors that have to be taken into consideration. It definitely takes a lot of time to obtain high rankings and a large number of visitors. That is because marketing will be required, as well as investing a lot of your time. That is why some argue that it would be great to buy a blog with already existing traffic. However, setting up a successful blog from the scratch has its advantages, as and often gives more satisfaction in the long run. You will also be able to shape in from the beginning, so it might be easier to achieve what you have in mind, as you will have total control over it. How do you know if the current visitors will actually keep visiting the site once they discover you are not the founder of the blog?

Being a Happy Blogger

An interesting study was done to determine which is the happiest nation in the world. It was a surprise that the happiest nation was not the one that was the richest. It did not have the most beautiful landscapes, or even some kind of abundant natural resources, but something completely different. You are probably wondering which nation it is, so I will not keep you waiting. The nation that I am talking about is Denmark, and it is considered to be a nation where people are very content with their lives. The secret for their happiness appears to be having low expectations.

When it comes to blogging, I am not saying to settle on being an insignificant blogger. However, if you want to be a successful blogger, I think you need to be happy. In order to achieve this, you should not have too high expectations, but rather reasonable ones. Anyway, I find the results of this survey to be quite surprising, and I wonder how somebody can actually measure the happiness of a nation. We need to remember that such studies can be quite subjective, and it is not that easy to measure things like happiness. In any case, I think that most people will agree that this study is quite interesting.

Attracting Free Traffic To Your Site

Traffic is obviously very important to webmasters. Here are some more ways to attract traffic to your blog:

• Thank your visitors for paying a visit to your blog. You can go to their profile on MyBlogLog and thank them personally there. Of course, you can also go directly to their blog and comment on it. This will increase a chance that they will come back again.
• Submit your well-written articles to as many social bookmarking sites as possible. You can do it by using a program (some might be free) or manually. Whatever you choose to do, expect a lot of visitors coming to your website.
• Be active on forums. I had already quite a few visits from forums where I have been posting regularly. The good thing about most of them is that you can customize your signature, and thus include the addresses of your blogs. Many people will see your thread or response and will be likely to click on the name of your blog. If you are not a member of any forums, you might want to think about signing up.
• Organize contests on your blog.
• Submit your blog to different sites offering prizes. Even if you do not win, you will still be listed there.

Disadvantages of Having Multiple Blog Authors

There are definitely some disadvantages of having a few authors of one blog. They are a few reasons for that:

1. Multiple bloggers will have to work with each other, which is quite challenging. Striving to maintain high quality of posts, and having responsibility for others are some aspects that will have to be taken into account. One of the disadvantages of having a few authors of one blog is that the authors might not be able to work with each other that easily. Before you decide to start a blog that will be maintained by a few people, take some time and ask yourself a few questions. Do I know the bloggers that you are going to share your blog with? Are they they friends? Can you truly trust them? Do they have the same blogging standards as you do? Do they have similar interests as you do?
2. Responsibility. If something goes wrong, who is to blame? If you have co-authors of a blog, you might end up taking responsibility for the actions of other bloggers.
3. Any potential profit will be divided among few people.
4. A blog might lose its personal character.
5. Readers might not be sure who to address in case of questions and suggestions. This can cause embarrassing situations.
6. It is hard to coordinate the work of a few people, especially if they are not physically in one place.

This can be quite challenging. It can cause potential problems including insufficient communication and lack of regular updates.

Over Five Months of Blogging

Just recently this blog has celebrated five months since its creation and I think that is quite a big success. There are many blogs that are being created every day, but only some of them really stand the test of time. The number of blogs being abandoned every day is really amazing. That is probably because it is not that easy to manage a blog. Of course, there are currently blogs that are many years old, but I am really happy about this blog anyway. Currently there are quite a lot of posts on the website and I trust that most of them have been useful to my readers, because I believe in blogging about practical things and giving advice that can be useful in our lives. You may find some of my posts to be less practical, but such posts usually reveal some aspect of me, which I believe is also an important thing to do as a blogger. I do not know how old this blog will eventually be, but all I hope for is that it will be regarded as a blog with useful information. If you are reading this post right now, it means that something attracted you to do so. I hope that it is because you found my other posts interesting as well.

Vote For the Most Popular Blogs

There is an interesting website I came across, specifically BloggersChoiceAwards. It is a website that allows users to vote on blogs in different categories such as Best Celebrity Blogger, Best Religion Blog, and Best Blog Design. There are many other categories as well, I believe a few dozen in total. I think that with so many categories it should be easy to find blogs which you would have interest in. If you want to be famous, or if you are looking for a challenge, then you can submit your own blog and hope that your blog will be nominated with the most votes possible.

On the other hand, if you are looking to contribute in a different way, you are free to leave comments. In the future, I expect to see more and more websites that give some sort of awards. I noticed that when a website of this type launches, it very often wants to receive valuable backlinks. I do not have anything against it, but many of the websites which give some sort of rewards do it in order to receive backlinks. If you do not mind to put the reward on the homepage of your blog, it is alright.

Blog Awards

One of the best things about the blogosphere is that bloggers can be granted awards for their hard work. There are a lot of sites which accept nominations for the best blogs in various categories. Such categories might include the most improved blog of the year, the best video blog, the best blog name, the best personal blog, and the best travel blog. Usually, anyone is invited to vote on the best blogs, and in some cases there are websites that are solely dedicated to giving out those awards. Various blog awards are highlighting the best that the blogosphere has to offer. This is why every blogger should try to win.

Improving Online Social Life

Some time ago I discussed ways to improve your online social life. Here are some more ideas on how to further enrich it:

• Link abundantly to other bloggers. This can really pay off especially when you do not expect it. People like checking who is writing about them and might mention this fact in one of their posts. I noticed that many popular bloggers do that.
• Join and be active in such communities like MyBlogLog. While trying to find how such communities like MyBlogLog can enrich the social life of many bloggers, I found some interesting articles from which I learned a lot. I myself have enjoyed participating in MyBlogLog and a lot of good things came out of it for my other blog. What I like the most about it is the widget that so many bloggers put on their site that displays the icons of other bloggers visiting their site. Basically, it displays the icons of bloggers that are also part of MyBlogLog community. To get most out of your membership in MyBlogLog, you need to actively participate in the community.

To sum up, I can say that blogging can be a very rewarding activity. It is up to the blogger how his social life looks like. There are many ways to enrich it, and make it even better.

How to Start a Successful Blog #2

Here is some more advice on how to start a successful blog:

-After deciding where you are going to host your blog, it is time to set it up. Do not worry; setting up your own blog on Blogger or WordPress is a piece of cake. All you have to do is follow steps that you are listed in the instructions of the blogging platform you chose. Free blog platforms were designed in such a way that nobody should have problems starting a blog. They usually do not require any knowledge or experience and this is what makes them so popular.

-Start blogging immediately after setting up your blog. Write your first introductory post in which you are going to explain who you are and why you decided to start blogging. Tell the world a few words about yourself so that your visitors will know who you are.

-Spread the word about your blog. Your blog needs to become popular in order to be successful. The reason some blogs do not succeed is because nobody reads them. You will find blogging fulfilling only if you are going to know that somebody reads your blog.

-Keep posting on a regular basis. The key to success is to blog regularly. Try to schedule your posts to appear on your blog in regular intervals. The reason why it is so important to blog regularly is that your readers expect it from you. Each time someone visits your blog, he usually wants to read new posts.
