Commenting on Blogs

Commenting on popular blogs is a great way to market your blog. It will be especially useful for a few reasons:

It is a way to obtain new visitors. People often click on links to your webpage if you make an interesting comment. It is especially true if you are one of the first to do so.
If you are posting on a do-follow blog, it is also going to improve your Page Rank, as it is going to count as a link. Obtaining links pointing to your site is crucial.
Since popular blogs have really a lot of visitors, your comment might be viewed by thousands of people. That means that your blog is going to be more popular as well.

Most importantly make sure that you enjoy doing it.

Blogs About Blogging

I believe that blogs about blogging will become increasingly popular. Some people might wonder why I think so. That is because such blogs are a useful resource for all bloggers no matter what niche they belong to. Basically, as long as there are blogs, there will be blogs about blogging, as people will need advice. It doesnt matter what kind of blogs will be the most popular: business blogs, personal blogs, or technology blogs. The important thing is that all of them are blogs. Secondly, the cost of maintaining a blog about blogging is lower than is some other niches where you need to upload a lot of videos, files, or images. Many hosting companies claim they offer unlimited bandwidth, but in reality they will close your account if you exceed some limit that they set secretly. That is why it is an advantage to have a website which does not require a lot of bandwidth. Lastly, since there are so many new blogs being created every day, there is a large audience to address. Someone has to teach new bloggers about blogging, as there is plenty to teach. While blogging platforms might seem easier and easier to work with, in reality there are so many tools, plug-ins, and decisions to make that most webmasters will appreciate useful advice.

Reinstalling WordPress

If you are an active blogger, sooner or later you may need to reinstall WordPress. This is usually advisable when your installation is corrupted and cannot be fixed otherwise. It is important for any blogger who is serious about blogging to know how to reinstall WP. That is why you may want to learn how to do it, and now is a good chance. In this post, I would like to share with you an easy way to reinstall WP. While this may not make you an expert when it comes to WordPress, you will feel a lot more confident, and you will not be worried even if something goes wrong with your current installation.

The most important thing when it comes to reinstalling is to make a copy of all of your existing files, in case something goes wrong. You should also know your WP database details. The next step is to re-upload all of the WP files, and overwrite your existing files on the server. This way any damaged files will be replaced with properly working ones. To make sure that all of your posts, comments, and settings will appear on your blog, you should edit the ‘config’ file to include your existing database details. This will ensure that your new installation uses your existing set up. This way if everything goes well, you will have your whole blog intact. Like I said, there are a few reasons for reinstall; however, most people reinstall after their blogging platform no longer works properly.

WordPress Errors

It seems like a good amount of bloggers are experiencing the WordPress mm_handled error, which triggers when you want to write a new post. What happens is that the custom fields section shows mm_handled over and over again. There are hundreds of mm_handled fields to fill out and for some people this prevents creating new posts completely. On the other hand, for others it extremely slows down posting. It is hard to say why this happens, but so far there are at least two things you can do:

Use Firefox, as at least you can create posts, but unfortunately posting is slowed down. While this is not really a solution to the problem, it will allow you to publish a important post without taking more drastic steps.
You can reinstall WordPress. This should fix the problem, as it worked for many people. On the down side, this will take you some time and dont forget to backup your database or any template changes. I cannot offer any easier solution, but if you think that you have a better idea please let me know by commenting.

I know that those who experience this problem might be feeling really lazy when it comes to posting, and that is why this error should be fixed as soon as possible.

Link Exchanges

I am looking for bloggers to exchange links with if they have a blog that adheres to the following criteria:
-Is dedicated to offering blogging tips and overall has posts about similar topics. Google values links from such sites the most.
-Is updated regularly. I try to update this blog whenever I can.
-Has original content. This is after all what blogs are all about.
-Is generally well established. It does not have to be a few years old, but at least a few weeks or months would be nice.
-Has similar Page Rank, mostly for SEO reasons.
-Will not be abandoned very soon. I think this point is quite obvious.

I am always willing to add new, interesting blogs to my blogroll. I am ever eager to recommend other blogs in my posts. If you have high Page Rank and you would like the name of your blog to be added to my blogroll, please fill out the contact form on my site. If accepted, your link will appear not only on my main page, but on each page of this blog, as this is how I have set up the blogroll. Exchanging links is a great way to obtain new sources of traffic and it will help you establish a name for yourself in the blogosphere.

Ideas for Writing Good Posts

Some people say that content is all that matters when it comes to blogging. I would like to share with you a few ideas that will help you write better posts:
-Write short sentences. Almost nothing is as tiring as trying to catch up with long and complicated phrase. If you use short sentences, your readers are more likely to understand what you want to tell them.
-Use simple words. Avoid sophisticated language. Unless you hold a Ph.D., you are trying to appeal to readers from different social groups and different walks of life. You do not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable by using words they cannot understand.
-Use positive language and blog about things that make you happy and relaxed. Use such adjectives as good, comfortable, beneficial, etc.
-Use dynamic and vigorous language. It is advisable to use a lot of verbs. It will add to your articles a feeling of constant motion.
-Make a good use of lists. This is my favorite style of writing. I often compose my articles so that they appear in the form of lists. This helps me in organizing my posts into logical sentences. It also helps me to avoid writing off-topic as well as unnecessary words and phrases.

Reasons Why Readers Unsubscribe

This time I would like to list a few reasons why readers might unsubscribe from your RSS feed. This will help you to avoid any mistakes you could otherwise make.

One of the reasons your readers might unsubscribe is posting too often. Some visitors do not want you to update your blog so often; however, it depends on the type of a blog.
Promoting your blog too often is why many subscribers decide to unsubscribe. Nobody likes people with a big ego, so no wonder that some people might get annoyed. Blog promotion is important, but do it in moderation.
Making personal attacks in posts. Many readers would probably feel like in a middle of a fight and this would make them uncomfortable. Try to be friendly and by doing so you will attract many readers.
Readers sometimes change their interests and I think there is nothing you can really do about it. However, if you own many blogs, then you may want to direct them to one of your other blogs.

I think that most webmasters would agree with me that this topic is interesting, and that is why in the future I might still comment on this topic.

Some Ideas for Writing Good Posts

There is a new blog being created in the blogosphere every few seconds and there are millions of them already existing. Some blogs attract more readers than others and unfortunately some blogs cease to exist. If you are a blogger, then it is very important that you know how to write high quality posts. It is also important to write about something that will be useful to your readers. If your English is good and if you stick to a few simple rules by promoting your blog in a right way, then your readers will keep coming again to read more of your well-written posts. Here is what you can do to still improve the quality of your articles:

-Do not make your posts too long or too short. Too long posts will make your readers tired and make them give up on reading your content. Too short posts will not make them stay long enough on your site.
-Write good openings containing no more than a few sentences. Use the element of surprise, be intriguing to catch the attention of your readers. Your opening matters a lot. Usually, after reading the first few sentences your readers make up their mind if they want to finish reading the article or simply leave.

Allow Users to Search Your Blog

One of the top webpages in the world are search engines. I believe it is so, because high quality search engines save people a lot of time and help them find what they need very quickly. When it comes to your website, it is important that you allow your visitors to use the search option and allow them to browse through your site this way. This is especially important if your site has a lot of posts, since finding them manually would take too much time. Your older posts will eventually not get any hits at all. This is a serious problem, especially for websites that are in a niche where older articles do not necessarily get outdated. For example, a website about pets will have many articles that could be useful for readers for many years, but with no search box, it will be hard to find those articles. By integrating search into your site, you give people more freedom to explore your blog, but you also make your site look more professional. I would say that allowing users to search your blog is a must these days, because you will not be able to compete with other webpages if you will not have this feature.

Grammar and Bloggers

The World Wide Web is full of people for whom English is not the first language or for whom it is their first language, but they do not have strong writing skills. Blogging is not only about correct grammar and spelling. Even though I believe that correct grammar and spelling are important, many people with poor writing skills are bloggers who have many interesting things to say. The World Wide Web is also full of people who are so-called grammar Nazis. Their tolerance for grammatical or spelling errors is almost non-existent. It is always important to remember to we draw the line between sound criticism and non-constructive criticism. People for whom English is not the first language should do everything to learn to use it properly, while bloggers living in English-speaking countries should help them become better writers and editors.
